Our Story..

Our love of historic houses began 3000 miles apart on different sides of the world.

After growing up surrounded by bright green fields, rolling hills & quintessential English village cottages I left behind everything I’d known to follow an insatiable desire to experience more of the world on the other side of the Atlantic.

I found my new home in Canada. Days were filled awe inspiring landscapes, fresh seasonal tastes, and the call of adventure, but the quiet whisper of unfulfilled dreams was never far away.

Then one day everything changed.

I remember the day I first met Stephen. The rich aroma of coffee beans danced in the air as our conversation coaxed an inner smile that warmed within me as we shared our love of historic properties.
A spark had been lit under a joint passion for bringing old houses back to life.

After years of searching to find my purpose, I finally realized I’d been looking in all the wrong places. The answer was right in front of me; all I had to do was look in the mirror.
It was time for us to dive in feet first. Our journey had begun.

Love was in the air on that September day as the sun peeked out from behind the clouds and we exchanged rings beside the reflective blue and green lake.

With a kaleidoscope of ideas filling our minds, we excitedly stepped out into the unknown. Each step revealed an untrodden path, drawing us toward the unmarked road ahead of us.

That road led us here, standing with the keys in our hand, in front of a tired 1840 Manor filled with flaking paint, crumbling plaster, and rotting wood. Our new home.

The red-clay brick walls and awkward vinyl siding concealed a beauty within that whispered directly to our souls, promising a place that goes beyond what you see, hear & taste; a place where you feel.

Our vision had a way of finding its own path, fueled by our passion to connect people, place & heritage, and to use local seasonal produce, talent, and creativity to tell a story through experiences and events.

We worked harder than we’d ever worked before, but there is no other place we’d rather be. Working with our hands, and rooted in love, we have breathed new life into the Manor. Each day bringing another opportunity to combine the wisdom of the past with our vision for the future.

From amongst the majestic trees and the choreographed melody of Sandpipers as they dance in the Dorchester sky, a place of purpose has emerged from the crumbling Manor. A place where you can rediscover the art of conversation with loved ones, experience history as a living story and feel time give you more moments in your day than you’ve had in a long while.

This is a place where you’ll be able to catch up with friends in our quirky English style pub with its rich wood panels and inviting armchairs, while away lazy afternoons under the mighty canopy of our majestic oak tree, step back in time and enjoy a celebration of the local heritage of New Brunswick or discover the joy of cooking using freshly picked food from our kitchen garden in the warmth of our Orangery.

A place we call home.

A place called Lady Smith Manor.
