This weekend at the Manor… the tables were set, the tea was poured, the cakes were waiting, and the rooms filled with the loveliest kind of memories.

This year’s Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea theme was “Postcards from the Manor” — an afternoon of tea, treats, and handwritten memories.

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us.

It was such a joy to welcome you through the doors and see so many mums, daughters, sisters, friends, families, and chosen family gathered around the table.

There is something very special about an afternoon spent slowly — with warm scones, delicate sandwiches, sweet little cakes, teacups in hand, and the people you love nearby.

And because some afternoons are too lovely not to write down… tickets for our 2027 Mother’s Day Afternoon Teas have now been released.

What a magical weekend it was ✨⚡️

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Harry Potter Afternoon Tea last weekend.

We loved welcoming so many witches, wizards, and well-behaved muggles to the Manor for an afternoon filled with enchanting treats, magical details, and a little bit of mischief.

From Sorting Hat surprises to Golden Snitches, Owl Post letters, and a setting worthy of Hogwarts itself, it was an experience designed to delight witches, wizards, and well-behaved muggles alike.

The themed sweets, tea, photo moments, activities, and all the wonderful costumes made it such a joy to see everyone fully embrace the magic and make the weekend so special.

Thank you for spending part of your weekend with us and for bringing such a lovely atmosphere to the Manor.

We hope you left feeling as though you had stepped into another world for a little while.

We walked the cliffs slowly.
We didn’t rush.
We let the ideas settle instead of chasing them.

And I was reminded of something important:

Big ideas don’t usually arrive loudly.
They arrive quietly…
when you finally pause long enough to hear them.

Sometimes hosting well isn’t about adding more.

It’s about clarity.

There’s something about ruins that quiets you.

Perched high above the village, Corfe has stood through war, collapse, centuries of change.
Even in pieces, it commands presence.

The wind was wild the day we visited.
You could almost hear history moving through the stone.

And it makes you think…

Not everything built will remain untouched.

But what’s built with strength — with intention — leaves a mark long after.

Legacy isn’t about perfection.
It’s about foundation.

Even ruins teach you something about what’s worth preserving…
and what’s worth rebuilding.

When you’re creating something meant to last, you stop chasing trends.

You start laying stone.

Stop Number 1: — Dorchester, Dorset!

Old stone buildings.
Market squares.
Streets that have seen centuries come and go.

But this one felt different.

Standing here, knowing our own Dorchester sits across the ocean, felt quietly significant.

Different histories.
Different timelines.

Both places sit along coastlines shaped by the same Jurassic history — once connected, long before borders, long before towns carried names.

There’s something grounding about that.

About shared geology.
Shared shoreline stories.
Land that remembers its origins.

It makes you think about how place shapes identity — even across oceans.

From Dorchester to Dorchester.

And today, as we reopen our doors back home at @thethirstywhippet, it feels fitting.

We wandered these streets imagining what it must have been like generations ago — the hosting, the gathering, the local pride.

Then we came home to ours.

Doors at The Thirsty Whippet open again at 2pm today.

We’re a little rested, very inspired and we’ve missed you! ♥️

During our two-week annual shutdown — while Lady Smith Manor and The Thirsty Whippet were having their winter TLC — we managed to sneak across the pond.

Part rest.
Part wandering.
Part “research” (strictly hospitality-related, of course 😉).

We walked through estates that have stood for centuries.
We stood in ruins shaped by time.
We sat in rooms where atmosphere was everything.
We visited brands that became icons — not by accident, but by intention.

Travel doesn’t just give you a break.

It sharpens your vision.
It clarifies what matters.
It reminds you what’s possible.

We didn’t go to reinvent who we are.

We went to explore what’s next.

Tomorrow at 2pm, we reopen @thethirstywhippet doors.
A little rested.
A little clearer.
Very inspired.
